Caricatures for Corporate Parties

If your corporate event doesn’t have live hand drawn caricatures, you’re missing out. Don’t believe me? Give me two minutes and I’ll change your mind.

Let’s set the scene. You’ve worked for months to put this event together. You’ve got a location, catering, drinks and the whole schedule sorted. Guests are coming from all over, maybe some from other countries. Yeah, it’s a business event at heart, but you want everyone to have a good time, right? But things might be bumpy. These events can be awkward at times, and some guests might find it hard to penetrate existing social groups.

You need an icebreaker, a live event caricaturist who can help your guests form bonds and talk about something that isn’t the weather or the trains. That’s me! That’s my speciality. One hour is around what I need to draw 15 faces, and in that time I will have left complete strangers laughing like old friends, given distant colleagues something genuine to chat about and added a whole new layer of excitement to your function. That’s the power of a live event caricaturist, and it’s not to be underestimated.

I’ve been in this exact situation before, at a private event for a company in London. They had guests attending from mainland Europe who were a little intimidated by the number of Brits who already knew each other. Who could blame them? It’s like being the new kid at school, except you can’t share your Quavers to break the ice with whoever you’re sitting next to.

I knew an opportunity when I saw it, though, and made myself known to the two fellows. They’d never considered getting party caricatures before, but they were game for a new experience. I did my thing, brought out their best sides and produced two fun but not harsh caricatures that had them giggling like toddlers with a whoopie cushion. Pretty soon, others came to see what the fuss was about, and by that point the two shy outsiders had been welcomed into lively conversations with people from all across the company.

What were they talking about? I couldn’t say, but I do know that they didn’t stop chatting for the rest of the event. They were chuffed with their souvenir (not that they’d have been entirely sure what ‘chuffed’ meant) and were able to actually enjoy their night. 

Not bad for 10 minute’s work, eh?

But in all seriousness, live caricatures drawn at weddings, parties and corporate events are an activity, keepsake and conversation piece rolled into one. My services don’t distract from a party, they don’t interrupt conversation and your guests are free to engage with them as they please. Although, if I’m honest, you’d be surprised at the number of people who DO want to see cartoon faces of themselves and their colleagues.
